I, A Tropthy

Logline:

At a British elite boarding school, the day before a press visit celebrating academic success, a Chinese scholarship student’s trophy vanishes. As the investigation unfolds, it quietly reveals the undercurrents beneath the school’s pristine surface.

"I’m a Chinese-born filmmaker currently based in London. Moving to the UK at fifteen opened my eyes to the quiet, unspoken spaces between languages and cultures. With this project, I want to keep exploring those invisible borders—turning moments of distance and connection into a cinematic language about outcasting and belonging. I believe the lab will give me the creative support and community I need to further examine the diasporic condition and shape these experiences into an honest, resonant film".

With a BA (Hons) in Film Practice from the University of the Arts London and over five years of industry experience, Simin has worked on high-pressure productions for Warner Bros, Disney, and Apple TV.

Over the past two years, she has freelanced on over 50 projects, ranging from short films and documentaries to commercials and music videos—bringing stories to life through the interplay of camera, light, and shadow.

Currently pursuing a Master of Research in Moving Image at Central Saint Martins, Simin explores film as an artistic, cultural, and political medium, with a particular interest in stories that examine identity, migration, and the invisible structures that shape our sense of self.

I, A Trophy project will be presented among others during lab: Displaced Women Pitch in London, January 2026.
