Projects
Following the first edition of lab: a development programme for displaced filmmakers, Liminal is now moving from support into its first artistic projects. Developed through research, collaboration and socially engaged curatorial practice, these projects bring artists, communities and audiences together around stories of conflict, displacement, memory and hope.
Liminal creates spaces where difficult stories can become shared encounters.
Founded by Ukrainian refugee and curator, Liminal begins with Ukrainian stories and artistic voices while remaining open to artists and communities shaped by displacement, conflict and migration across the world. Our starting point is Ukraine, but our commitment is to every voice seeking visibility, connection and a place in the conversation.
Hope in the Rubble
Planned for February 2027, Hope in the Rubble is a photographic exhibition by Elisa Iannacone combining magical realism with documentary practice.
Drawing on the dreams and experiences of Ukrainian children affected by war, constructed sets transform the realities of conflict into imaginative visual worlds of hope, resilience and refuge.
The exhibition will be accompanied by testimonies, immersive elements, and public programme. This project is the first test of Liminal’s wider model for connecting artists, displaced communities and the British public through art.
Collision of Temporalities
Planned for November 2026 and developed in collaboration with Collision of Temporalities, this research-led exhibition brings myths, legends, folktales and personal narratives from different cultures into dialogue with newly written stories and visual art. Through an open call, five contemporary texts will meet five artworks, accompanied by live storytelling and participatory events. The project creates a living space for migrant, displaced, diaspora and queer voices, exploring how stories travel, transform and keep communities connected.
